Music legends Iain Matthews & Andy Roberts will be performing music from their new album, “Reinventing Richard: The Songs of Richard Farina” as well as classics from a catalog of recordings spanning 45 years. Iain Matthews is truly one of the greatest Singer/Songwriters of all-time, with a career that dates back to the inception of Fairport Convention (with Richard Thompson and Sandy Denny) in the late 60’s, through a successful solo career in the 70’s (including the Top 10 hits “Woodstock” and “Shake It”) and group work with Matthews Southern Comfort, Hi-Fi, Hamilton Pool, More Than a Song, and many others. He formed Plainsong in 1972 and released the monumental album “In Search of Amelia Earhart” with mutual British folk legend Andy Roberts, known for his work with Richard Thompson, Roy Harper, Pink Floyd, Billy Bragg, The Bonzo Dog Band, Maddy Prior, and dozens of others, as well as a collection of well-respected solo albums from the 70’s. Plainsong is making their first appearances in the United States in over a decade.
Opening the show will be a brief series of sets “in the round” from The Champaign/Urbana singer-Songwriter Collective, featuring Kevin Elliott, John Coppess, and Jeff Arrigo.
